The 2019 Diablo Grande Super and Sprint weekend was filled with vertical incline and gorgeous views, but served as a reminder for many racers to ramp up their hill training.
Plenty of beautiful terrain awaited in the Spartan Arizona Sprint and Super courses, which varied from slight inclines and steep, hard declines, to beautiful sandy trenches and prickly bush juking.
We all know THOSE accounts, right? They had a few hundred followers, and received a couple of likes here and there, and then, out of nowhere, they ballooned to 20,000 followers and their likes went through the roof!

If you follow my OCR antics, you know I’m a huge fan of Terrain Race. Not only are there three events per year within driving distance of my home, but the value participants also receive from the event are one of the best bargains in OCR.
It all came down to the rainy Pacific Northwest, as a group of tremendously talented and badass OCR athletes toed the line for the 2018 Tougher Mudder Championship
It wouldn’t be a complete year of racing without traveling to Snohomish, Washington to take on the second in a two-weekend Spartan race series at Meadow Wood Equestrian Center. Known for its brutally muddy US Championship series super and sprint in the spring, the beast and sprint weekend is known as the final piece in the Seattle trifecta – a keystone OCR for the area.
The 2018 OCR season has been a real eye-opener for me. I’ve already dealt with a medial DNF, earned a nice broken foot and, as I type this, sit here with all kinds of patterns of kinesiology tape on my back, applied by a chiropractor at a licensed PT facility. As I age, I find I’m more susceptible to injury, and those recovery times seem to lengthen after every birthday.
