Organizer:Mississippi Mud Run The Mississippi Mud Run will consist of approximately four miles of Mississippi River Valley terrain and various natural and man made obstacles. Participants will be in and out of river bank mud, at least one memorable backwater slough, over stumps and through floodplain trail. Man made obstacles will include whatever we can dream up, but you can expect things built from logs, large and huge tires, rope, round bales, concrete culverts, flatbed trailer(s), wrecked vehicles, and possibly a really big dumpster. ;) This run offers a challenge to warrior folk and tough guys and gals looking to put themselves to the test or beat their friends to the finish. It’s also completely cool if you’re not so much with the competition and just want to have some fun at a more leisurely pace. Groups and costumes are encouraged!

There will be one aid station around the midpoint of the course with water and sports drink.
There will be an ambulance standing by at the event and volunteers with cell phones and radios stationed at each obstacle and other points around the course.
At a minimum there will be water and fruit at the finish.
More than likely there will be a local group doing concessions with coffee, pop, cocoa, etc.
Awards and prizes will be awarded at the baseball field concession stand (Mud Run HQ) after the last runner crosses the finish line.
Medals will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place for all age divisions.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place overall for both male and female divisions.
Prizes will be given for best team name, best team costume, and best individual costume.
Spectators are free and you can walk around the island to find a prime spectating location.
The water slide, and finish-line mud hole are considered prime spots.
The start of the race and Mud Run HQ are at the St. Feriole Island Park Ball Field.
There is plenty of free parking there and on the streets around the island.
We don't have a post party, just the awards.
We do play some music and have a bit of fun.
Also we are just a 1/2 mile from downtown Prairie du Chien where you can find food and refreshment aplenty.
We offer a key check service so you don't have to worry about keeping your keys dry, or leaving your car unlocked.
All proceeds from the event support the expansion of the Prairie du Chien Skate Board Park.
We do time the run and we do a pretty good job of it, but we are not professionals.
We will post results online within a day or two of the event.
There is a 1-mile kids run right before the main run for kids 11 and under.
A parent, or guardian can accompany the child runner on the kids course for free.
The local FD provides a open shower where you can get the worst of the mud off.
You can get a real shower at the Hoffman Hall Rec Center about a mile from the event.
There are public bathrooms at the ball field where you can change clothes etc.
You do not need to swim to compete, but you do need to pay attention.
There will be a floating bridge obstacle with two lanes side by side.
One will be in shallow water and will be meant for people who want to take is slow or who don't want to take a chance on ending up in deep water.
The other lane will be the fast lane and will be in water from 2' to 6+ feet deep.
If you have questions or concerns about this please contact our race director: 608-412-2974
People have a lot of fun with teams at this event.
You will likely see some great costumes and fun silly stuff.
Each team member needs to register individually and include the name of the team they are a member of on the registration form.
We used to limit teams to 5 members so we could have a prize for each member of the winning teams.
People ignored this, so we stopped doing it.
Just be aware if you have more than 5 people on your team and win, it's on you to figure out how to divvy up your 5 free ice cream cone gift certificates.
Your team time will be the time of your last team member to cross the finish line, NOT the first. ;)
